MARK P. POPIEL is a graduate of Brock University (B.A.) and the State University of New York at Buffalo, School of Law (Juris Doctor), International Law concentration.

As Senior Counsel with the law firm of Bond, Schoeneck & King, PLLC (www.bsk.com), Mr. Popiel represents small to multi-million dollar corporations, professionals, health and academic institutions in various permanent and temporary resident matters where he advises his clientele on the proper choice of visas and employment-based immigration categories, governmental procedures, content and format of applications and petitions, as well as a host of other immigrant and nonimmigrant related matters. 

Given his specialization, Mr. Popiel has extensive experience in: (1) temporary employment-based cases such as H-1B, L-1, TN, O-1, E-2 and E-3 petitions; and (2) permanent residency cases including PERM Labor Certification Applications, Outstanding Professor/Researcher Petitions, as well as National Interest Waivers and Extraordinary Ability Petitions.

Among others, Mr. Popiel formerly served as the Director of Immigration Services (Chief Immigration Counsel) for the State University of New York at Buffalo where he represented foreign faculty, scholars, researchers, and other staff members in the processing of their temporary, as well as permanent residency immigration cases.

Mr. Popiel is also the author of "Redrafting the Right of Self Defense in Response to International Terrorism," Across Borders Gonz. Int'l L.J. (Spring, 2003), and co-author of "The Immigration Time Machine. H-1B's Regaining Time Spent Outside the United States," Geo. Immigr. L.J. (Spring, 2003), "War by Sanctions: Are We Targeting Ourselves?" Currents: Int'l Trade L.J. (Summer, 2003), and “Tightening The United States Immigration Laws In The 21st Century", Chinese J. of Int’l Law (Spring 2005).

Mr. Popiel serves as a Clinical Supervisor/Adjunct Instructor at the University at Buffalo Law School where he teaches the Immigration Law Clinic to upper level law students.  Among others, Mr. Popiel also serves as an Adjunct Faculty with Hilbert College teaching Immigration Law to undergraduate students. 

Mr. Popiel is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the American Immigration Lawyers Association. He is admitted to practice in New York, before the U.S. Court of International Trade and as a Foreign Legal Consultant (practicing U.S. law) in Ontario, Canada.
