DTIA Conference 2008 Call For Presenters
31-10-07

The Dental Technicians International Association is hosting its 2nd Annual Conference in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Canada from June 20-21, 2008. The Theme for the 2008 Workshop is, “Inspiring Passion”. At the 2007 Conference, there was a general consensus that not enough is being done to encourage young people to enter the profession, to pursue education in the field of dental technology, and to maintain the new talent that comes in. The goal of this conference is to raise the level of passion for the industry amongst attendees (lab owners, students, educators, technicians, and industry professionals alike) in order to infuse new life and energy into the industry.

The DTIA Conference Committee is currently seeking presenters to speak on topics that fit within the following streams:

Technical Topics - Focus on new innovations, technology, and the latest developments in the industry and how these developments benefit the field of dental technology. Product sales presentations or demonstrations must be interactive in nature, and involve the audience at least 30% of the time.

Leadership and Communication
- This stream can encompass business leadership, management techniques, communication skills, sales techniques, Human Resource Management topics such as evaluations, training and development opportunities or presentations on how companies turned around their profits through exceptional leadership and communication.

Business Development - With the Four Pillars of Strength in mind, this stream should focus on strategies and techniques to build and strengthen one's business, whether it is a lab or a manufacturer. Strategies to assist newer DTs in building their skill base so they can work towards lab management, lab ownership, or some other career may also be included in this stream.

We are looking for facilitators who can provide collaborative, interactive workshops focused on problem-solving.  Facilitators must have significant experience in the stream of presentations to which they are submitting, and must be able to share company examples and success stories with the delegates. Proposals are being accepted for 30 minute, 45 minute, and 60 minute presentations. Presenters must be able to provide detailed information on their planned sessions well in advance of the conference for promotional purposes and be willing and able to speak with media about their particular area of expertise.  All conference presenters will have status as a member of the Conference Faculty.

Presenters must

  • Be a current member in good standing of the DTIA.
  • Provide a detailed proposal that is clear, concise and well-referenced
  • Be able to provide detailed information on their session, including handouts well in advance (3 months) of the conference for promotional purposes
  • Be willing to provide program content for use in attracting the media and be available for media interviews to help promote the conference and their particular seminars
  • Provide a workshop or seminar that is collaborative, interactive and focused on problem solving, versus a lecture-style presentation

If this sounds like you, and you can provide a session specific to the needs of this year's conference theme and format, we welcome your submission!

To submit your name and topic for consideration, please complete the attached form and return by fax: 905-991-1590 or email (editor@smilescience.com). The deadline for submissions is December 15, 2007.
